Lions Vetoed by Presidents, 17-9

Patrick Fredrick scored five goals and Erie native Anthony Squeglia was solid in net as Washington and Jefferson defeated the Penn State Behrend men's water polo team 17-9 Saturday afternoon at the Junker Center.

ERIE, Pa. – Patrick Fredrick scored five goals and Erie native Anthony Squeglia was solid in net as Washington and Jefferson defeated the Penn State Behrend men's water polo team 17-9 Saturday afternoon at the Junker Center.

The Lions came out strong, taking an early 3-1 lead in the first period.  After a back and forth second quarter, Washington and Jefferson took a one goal lead into the locker room. The Presidents, however, regrouped in the situation room at halftime. W & J outscored Behrend 9-2 in the second half.

Victor Nguyen (San Jose, CA/Evergreen Valley) led the way with three goals for the Lions, and Logan McCartny (San Diego, CA/LaJolla) added two.

Behrend will battle Salem International at 4 p. m. Saturday at the Junker Center.
