Monmouth Outlasts Lions, 14-11

BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Monmouth Hawks rallied to beat the Penn State Behrend men's water polo team 14-11 on Sunday afternoon in the Charm City.

During the contest, Behrend goalie Ty Elder (Brentwood, CA/Heritage) made his 276th save of the season, breaking the team's single season record.

Logan McCarthy (San Diego, CA/La Jolla) scored four times for the Lions, who battled to a 2-2 tie after one quarter of play.

Monmouth grabbed a 6-4 halftime advantage despite two goals apiece from Alex Chasar (North Wales, PA/North Penn), Matthew Johnson (Houston, TX/Cypress Falls), and Victor Nguyen (San Jose, CA/Evergreen Valley). Behrend outscored the Hawks 4-3 in the final period, but it proved to be too little too late as Monmouth ran out the clock with the three goal victory.

The Lions will take on Notre Dame (Ohio) on Saturday, October 26 at 10:30 a.m. at the Junker Center.
