Lions Fall in Home Finale

ERIE, Pa. -- Justin Vink (Los Angeles, CA/Granada Hills Charter) and Logan McCarthy (San Diego, CA/La Jolla) scored three goals apiece but the Penn State Behrend men's water polo team fell to Notre Dame College 21-11 on Saturday afternoon at the Junker Center.

The Lions were unable to overcome a rough start, as they were outscored 10-0 in the first period.

Behrend did cut the deficit to eight late in the third period following an Aaron Figurski (Erie, PA/McDowell) goal.

That, however, would be as close as they would get.

Notre Dame College finished with 19 ejections compared to six for the Lions.

In the nightcap, the Monmouth Fighting Scots came from behind to defeat Behrend 12-9.

McCarthy scored five goals in the loss.

Despite a spectacular effort from goalie Ty Elder (Brentwood, CA/Heritage), the Lions were unable to hold on to a 5-3 halftime lead, as Behrend was outscored 9-4 in the second half.

Figurski and Remi Lee (Berkeley, CA/Berkeley) added goals for the Lions, who now await their opponent in the Southern Championship.
