Lions Drop a Pair of Games at the Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend men's water polo team dropped a pair of games Saturday at the Bucknell Invitational.

Behrend lost the first game to Toronto 20-5. Toronto jumped out to an early lead in the game. Matthew Johnson (Houston, TX/Cypress Falls) and Nick Pabich (Lake Forest, IL/Lake Forest) got the Lions on the board with first period goals. Toronto never took their foot off the gas and went on to score 20 goals in the match. Justin Vink (Los Angeles, CA/Granada Hills Charter) added two goals in the game scoring once in the second period and once in the fourth.

The Lions were edged by Salem in the night game, 15-9 in what was a back and forth contest. However Behrend was not able to keep pace with Salem as they scored six goals in the final frame. Pabich got Behrend on the board early with a goal coming at 6:04 in the first period. Less than two minutes later Carson Williamson (Stockton, CA/Franklin-Stagg Sr. High) added a goal to tie the game at two all. The Lions struck first in the second period when Victor Nguyen (San Jose, CA / Evergreen Valley) notched a goal to tie the game at four. Salem outscored Behrend 11-5 after Nguyen's goal to seal the victory.

Nick Pabich (Lake Forest, IL/Lake Forest) played extremely well on the day scoring six goals in the two games, including four in the night cap against Salem.

Justin Vink (Los Angeles, CA/Granada Hills Charter) also had a solid effort for Behrend on the day scoring four goals in the two games.

Carson Williamson, (Stockton, CA/Franklin-Stagg Sr. High) Matthew Johnson (Houston, TX/Cypress Falls) and John Ingari (York, PA/Central York) all scored a goal each on the day for the Lions.

Behrend is slated for two games tomorrow first at 8:00 a.m. against Johns Hopkins and a noon matchup against George Washington.
