SALEM, W.V. - The Penn State Behrend men's water polo team lost a close 10-9 hard-fought contest to Salem Saturday night. The heartbreaking loss came in the final seconds when Michael Ebenkamp put in a goal to seal the victory for Salem.
The Lions (2-9) put together a strong performance and came up just short. Ty Elder (Brentwood, CA/Heritage) recorded 14 saves and three steals in the loss and now has 127 saves on the season.
Behrend was led offensively by Matthew Johnson (Houston, TX/Cypress Falls) and Carson Williamson (Stockton, CA/Franklin- Stagg) who scored three goals each.
Justin Vink (Los Angeles, CA/Granada Hills Charter) added two goals as well increasing his season total to 16, good for second on the team. Victor Nguyen (San Jose, CA/Evergreen Valley) also chipped in a goal.
The Lions will look to shake off the tough loss tomorrow when they travel to Washington and Jefferson for a 10:00 a.m. contest against the Presidents.
