Men's Water Polo Competes In Navy Open

Annapolis, Md – The Penn State Behrend men's water polo team traveled to the Navy Open where they played three games on Saturday.

The Lions were led by Freshman Andre Sardaryzadeh (Murrieta, CA/Elsinore) who tallied seven goals in the three contests.

In game one of the tournament, the Lions (0-1) took on CalTech, falling short in a hard fought game, 16-13. Sardaryzadeh and Isaak Hatopp (Saline, MI/Saline) led the way for Behrend, recording four goals each. Kyle Frerichs (Sellersville, PA/Pennrdge) and Cameron Makin (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) added to the Lion's effort, contributing two goals apiece. Behrend mounted a comback in the 4th period, outscoring the Beavers, 4-2.

In game two, Behrend fell to Princeton 21-2 with Sardaryzadeh and Valkusky tallying goals for the Lions.

In the final game of the evening, Behrend took on Cerritos, falling by a score of 23-7. The Lions were again led by Sardaryzadeh and Valkusky, who added two goals apiece. Ben Kastarsky (Syracuse, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt), Hatopp, and Makin each added one goal to Behrend's effort.

The Lions will be back in action tomorrow in the final game of the Open, taking on Iona at 10:40 a.m.
