Lions Compete at MPSF Tournament

WESTWOOD, Ca – The Penn State Behrend men's water polo team competed in the MPSF Championship tournament today, dropping a pair of games to Stanford and USC.

In game one of the opening round of the tournament, Stanford (13-6) outshot the Lions (0-25) 21-8 and won by a score of 17-1. 10 different Cardinal players recorded goals in the game and were led by Spencer Rodgers and Harrison Enright, who scored four each.

Troy Valkusky (Drifton, PA/Hazelton) scored Behrend's lone goal of the game with 17 seconds left in the first quarter. The junior driver now has 19 goals on the season.

The Lions struggled to find the offense in game two, falling 10-0 to #1 USC (22-1). Six Trojans scored in the game. Lachlan Edwards tallied a hat trick while Chase Koplow and Marin Dasic each added two.

Valkusky won three of the four sprints and Cameron Makin (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) had a team-high three steals.

Behrend will face #3 seed California at 5 p.m. PST tomorrow.
