Lions Fall to Lakers 10-5

ERIE, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend men's water polo team dropped its first game of the weekend after falling to Mercyhurst 10-5 Sunday afternoon.

Freshman goalkeeper Matt Olimski (San Diego, CA/Otay Ranch) had a strong game, recording 16 saves and four steals. Isaak Hatopp (Saline, MI/Saline) added three drawn penalty shots along with one drawn kick out. Grant Garcia (Kingsburg, CA/Kingsburg) finished the match with four drawn kick outs of his own.

Sophomore Andre Sardaryzadeh (Murrieta, CA/Elsinore) kept the game close for Behrend scoring a pair of goals to in the first half to keep the score at 2-all. Mercyhurst turned on the burners soon after though, scoring four unanswered goals to push the lead to 6-2.

The Lions were persistent, tallying a few more later in the game, but were unable to cut Mercyhurst's lead any further despite a strong push to continue to draw the score closer.

The Lions are back in action when they travel to Washington, Pa. for a 6 p.m. start on September 23.
