Men's Water Polo Tallies Second Win of the Season

WASHINGTON, Pa. - Six different players scored a pair of goals to help Penn State Behrend men's water polo team earn their second win of the season, defeating Monmouth 15-6 on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions' (2-1) early firepower was too much for the Hawks to handle, never conceding the lead in the game.

Isaak Hatopp (Saline, MI/Saline) and Kyle Frerichs (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge) led the charge for Behrend, scoring three of the four first quarter goals, giving Behrend a quick 4-1 lead.

Cameron Makin (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) and Frerichs continued the firepower through the second, adding three more goals for the Lions, making it 9-2 at halftime.

Junior Justin Spence (Houston, TX/Cy-Fair High School) and sophomore Andre Sardaryzadeh (Murrieta, CA/Elsinore) tallied a couple of goals each.

David Kraft (Houston, TX/Langham Creek) concluded the scoring for Behrend, notching two in the final quarter.

Mark Ercolani (North Wales, PA/North Penn) and Grant Garcia (Kingsburg, VA/Kingsburg) also contributed to the win, notching three assists and three drawn kickouts, respectively.

Freshman goalkeeper Matt Olimski (San Diego, CA/Otay Ranch) stopped the Hawks from gaining any momentum, recording 16 saves in the game.

The Lions will be back in action Sunday afternoon when they face McKendree. Game time is set for 2:15 p.m.
