Lions Fall to Gannon and Mercyhurst in Men's Water Polo

ERIE, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend men's water polo team hosted the Erie Weekend Invite on Saturday. The Lions had a pair of loss to Mercyhurst and Gannon.

Game One

* Behrend fell to Mercyhurst 13-11 in double-overtime
* The Lions were down 4-1 at the end of the first quarter before a second quarter run
* Behrend was able to make the score 5-4 after the second with goals from Greg Kinzler (Kiski, PA/Agora Charter Cyber School), Isaak Hatopp (Saline, MI/Saline) and Ryan Kenney (Skippack, PA/Perkiomen Valley)
* The Lions had a big fourth period, scoring four goals and holding the Lakers to two to tie the contest
* In overtime, Austin Hoff (Lake Forest, CA/El Toro) scored off a Kenney assist but Mercyhurst came back to tie
* The Lakers scored two goals in the second overtime to secure the win
* Matt Olimski (San Diego, CA/Otay Ranch) had 24 saves 

Game Two

* Behrend fell to Gannon in game two, 19-7
* The Lions fell behind 6-1 in the first quarter and were unable to cut the deficit
* Seven Behrend players scored goals in game two
* Kinzler, and Andre Sardaryzadeh (Murrieta, CA/Elsinore) each tallied one goal, one assist, and one steal
* Olimski had five saves in goal along with a steal

* Penn State Behrend will compete in the Division III Eastern Championships on October 26th and 27th.
