Friedman, Nikolic Earn MPSF East Player of the Week Honors
Penn State Behrend men’s water polo junior Ethan Friedman (Valley Center, CA/Valley Center) and freshman Leo Nikolic (Bethesda, MD/Walt Whitman) were named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) East Players of the Week.
ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend men's water polo junior Ethan Friedman (Valley Center, CA/Valley Center) and freshman Leo Nikolic (Bethesda, MD/Walt Whitman) were named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) East Players of the Week.
Friedman made 23 saves in net to claim Player of the Week honors, accumulating a 69 percent save-percentage to help Behrend secure an 11-10 victory over Washington & Jefferson to start the 2024 season.
Nikolic led the Lions with four goals, four steals, and added one field block in his first collegiate action. He also delivered the game-winning goal in sudden death against the Presidents to notch Newcomer of the Week.
The Lions return to action on Saturday, Sept. 21 for the two-day Erie Invite at the Erie Prep Center. Behrend's first game is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. against Wheaton (Mass.).
