Hayslip Delivers Game Winner; #6 Behrend Advances To MPSF East Championship With 8-7 Victory Over #4 Austin
Freshman Dylan Hayslip (Flower Mound, TX/Marcus) scored the game-winning goal with 57 seconds left in regulation to give the No. 6 Penn State Behrend men’s water polo team an 8-7 upset win over No. 4 Austin in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) East Semifinals on Saturday.
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Freshman Dylan Hayslip (Flower Mound, TX/Marcus) scored the game-winning goal with 57 seconds left in regulation to give the No. 6 Penn State Behrend men's water polo team an 8-7 upset win over No. 4 Austin in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) East Semifinals on Saturday.

* The Lions were able to take a 4-2 lead after two quarters with two goals from Nick Thompson (Hudsonville, MI/Hudsonville) and a score each from Evan Blasky (Rockford, MI/Rockford) and Adrian Tolczyk (Park Ridge, IL/Maine South)
* Austin knotted the score at four apiece to start the third quarter, but Jack Holl (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) and Will Aikens (La Grange Park, IL/Lyons Township) once again gave Behrend a two score advantage (6-4) to end the period

* Atticus Bowman (Albuquerque, NM/Volcano Vista) recorded a game-high three assists and four steals, while Friedman made 12 saves in net
* As a team, Behrend converted on 4-of-9 (44 percent) powerplays and led the stat sheet over Austin in blocks (15-11) and steals (13-12)
* This will be the first appearance for the Lions in the MPSF East Championship Game since joining the conference in 2015
* This marked the first MPSF Tournament win for Behrend since the 2019 conference tournament when the team defeated Austin by a score of 8-7
* With this win, the Lions have now set a new program record for victories in a single-season with eight
