Lions Finish 2nd at Behrend Invitational
The Penn State Behrend men's cross country team finished in 2nd place at the 2011 Behrend Invitational on Saturday.
ERIE, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend men's cross country team finished in 2nd place at the 2011 Behrend Invitational on Saturday.
Denis Lydon (Plum, PA/Plum) led the way for the Lions finishing in 2nd place overall with a time of 26:23. Lydon stayed with the leaders for the entire 8K race, slowing moving his way to the top of the pack. Lydon led for some of the race before coming in with a season best time.
Just behind Lydon was Michael Smolinski (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny) who clocked in at 26:49 to finish in 8th place. Carl Kallgren (Erie, PA/McDowell) and Billy Cvecko (Erie, PA/McDowell) also ran a strong finishing in 11th and 14th place respectively. Kallgren came in at 27:05 while Cvecko posted a time of 27:25. Junior Alex Myers (Oakmont, PA/Riverview) rounded out the top five for the men with a time of 27:49. Every runner for Behrend posted a season best time.
The Lions will travel to Rochester, NY on Saturday to compete in the Robert Wesleyan Invitational. Start time is 11 a.m.
