Lydon Leads Lions in Opening Meet Scorcher

ERIE, Pa. – Denis Lydon (Plum, PA/Plum) led the Penn State Behrend men's cross country team at the Mercyhurst Invitational with a first place finish on Saturday morning.
Competing as the only Division III team at the meet, the Lions had four runners in the top-20.
Lydon brought home first place with a time of 23:46.6. After about three miles, Lydon began his push to catch the leader and won by 10 seconds. Michael Smolinski (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny) ran well, coming in 15th place at 29:41.0. Josh Natalie (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy – Strong Vincent) was close behind in 16th place with a time of 29:55.6. Cody Cornell (Conneaut Lake, PA/Conneaut Lake) rounded out the top four coming in 19th at 30:22.3.
The Lions will be back in action on September 15th at the Behrend Invitational.
