Lions Finish Fourth at Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's cross country team placed fourth overall with a team score of 227 at the Paul Short College Men's White 8K on Saturday afternoon.

The runners had to battle intense heat and humidity throughout the day, as several participants had to be hospitalized. Despite the difficult conditions, the Lions had three runners place in the top 50.

Senior Denis Lydon (Plum, PA/Plum) was Behrend's top finisher, carding a time of 26:56. That was good for 13th place overall. Lydon's finish was the highest ever for a Behrend runner.

Jake DeWeese (Freedom, PA/Freedom Area) finished 38th overall with a time of 27:57, and Michael Smolinski (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny) finished with a time of 28:01, good for 40th place.

The Lions will next run at the Inter-Regional Rumble in Oberlin, Ohio on October 19.
