Men's Cross Country Takes Second at Home Invite

ERIE, Pa. – The men's cross country team finished second out of 16 teams with a score of 84 points on Saturday afternoon at the 8K Behrend Invitational.

The Lions had four runners finish in the top 20 to edge past Lake Erie who finished third. Case Western and Point Park took fourth and fifth place to round out the top five team finishers. Every team was playing catch up to invitational winner John Carroll who ran six of the top nine individual finishers totaling a team score of 21.

Dylan Buffington (Brookville, PA/Brookville) finished first for Behrend with a 5:26 mile pace totaling a time of 27:02.2 and was closely followed by senior Devin Beggs (Franklin, PA/Franklin) who crossed the finish with a time of 27:25.3. Buffington placed seventh overall and Beggs took a 12th place finish.

Cody Cornell (Conneaut Lake, PA/Conneaut Lake) and Jacob Parsons (Titusville, PA/Maplewood) took home 16th and 19th place finishes with times of 27:37.5 and 27:47.6 respectively. Seinor Josh Natalie (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy - Strong Vincent) claimed the Lion's final scoring spot with a fifth place team finish and a 30th overall finish with a time of 28:35.1

Behrend is back in action September 26th at Roberts Wesleyan as a make-up meet from the weather induced cancellation at Westminster.
