Penn State Behrend's Nikki Kaschauer and Julie Koman Named to Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Region

Penn State Behrend senior standouts Nikki Kaschauer (South Park/South Park) and Julie Koman (McKees Rocks/Montour) were named to the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region teams. 

AMCC Player and Pitcher of the Year Julie Koman was a second team selection while AMCC first team second baseman Kaschauer was named to the third team. These two carved out stellar careers for the blue and white and remain a pair of the most decorated players in program history.

This past season Koman racked up a 16-2 record with 111 strike-outs in 117 innings against only 26 walks. She also posted a miniscule 1.38 ERA. Kaschauer batted .398 with three homeruns and nine doubles, along with 28 RBI's, making her an integral member of the Behrend Softball team.  During this duos four years in uniform, Behrend has captured three conference tournament titles and advanced to the NCAA Tournament three times.

This past season Behrend logged a 33-8 record while winning the AMCC regular season and conference tournament titles.

Four other AMCC players joined Kaschauer on the squad. Frostburg State outfielder Brooke Tapman (Salisbury, MD/Pocomoke) was the lone AMCC first team selection, named in the Atlantic region.   Pitt-Bradford outfielder Michelle Kushner (McKees Rocks, PA/Sto-Rox) and catcher Lauryn Weaver (Port Matilda, PA/Bald Eagle) were all named to the third team.  Kushner and Weaver are both repeat award winners.
