WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – The D'Youville softball team swept Penn State Behrend 4-3 and 4-0 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Spartans scored three unanswered runs, including the game winner in the bottom of the seventh to get the come-back victory in game one, 4-3. Alison Hall had the game-winning hit, a two-out single to left field, to score Kalie McHenry.

In game two, Jessica Banning threw a four-hit shutout to help D'Youville complete the sweep.

After two scoreless innings, Behrend had a three-hit third inning to put a run on the scoreboard. With two outs, Hedderick doubled to right field to send home Sherrieb for a 1-0 lead.

D'Youville tied it up in the bottom of the fourth. Kehlenbeck tripled to get in to scoring position and Sutton hit a sacrifice fly make it 1-all.

The Lion went ahead 3-1 in the top of the sixth, taking advantage of two errors and a hit added two more runs.  The Spartans, however, tied it for a second time with two runs in the bottom of the frame and then went on to win it in the bottom of the seventh.

In the nightcap, Lauren DeVantier had three of the six hits for D'Youville and Sherrieb had two of Behrend's four.

The Spartans used back-to-back innings to put up four runs. They scored one in the third and three in the fourth.

Fuller was the starting pitcher, going four innings and striking out two before Hedderick finished game two and surrendered one hit in two innings.

The Lions return to action on Saturday against Franciscan. The AMCC doubleheader begins at 1 p.m.
