Softball Set For AMCC Tournament

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend softball team will be making its 13th appearance in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Tournament this weekend at Penn State Altoona.

The Lions (15-19, 9-9 AMCC), the defending AMCC Champions, earned the six seed and will battle third-seed Pitt-Bradford (18-14, 13-5 AMCC) in first-round action on Friday at 12 p.m. Second-round action will continue on Saturday, with the finals slated for Sunday, May 5.  Penn State Altoona claimed the top seed and is hosting the championships for the first time in program history.

The champion will receive the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

Behrend is looking for its sixth conference championship and a second chance at back-to-back titles. The Lions accomplished this feat in 2008 and 2009. During the regular season, the Lions fell twice to the Panthers, 6-4, 6-4.
