Four Named to Softball All-AMCC Team

ERIE, Pa. – Four members of the Penn State Behrend softball squad have been named to the All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) team, announced on Wednesday.

Junior Kelsey Fuller (Albion, PA/Northwestern) and freshmen Stacey Herzog (Smethport, PA/Smethport), Katie Kirik (union City, PA/Union City) and Kelly Hedderick (Waterford, PA/Mercyhurst) were all chosen to the second team for their first All-Conference honors.

Fuller earned second-team accolades at short stop this season. She led the team and ranked eighth in the AMCC in runs scored with 27. Fuller also had a team-best nine stolen bases, which was good enough for sixth in the conference. In addition, she tallied 30 hits, 12 RBIs and five doubles. Fuller also went 7-5 in the circle, pitching four complete games and recording two shut-out victories to go with 27 strikeouts.

Herzog led the Lions in five offensive categories, including hits (40), RBIs (26), doubles (11), triples (3) and slugging percentage (.558). The newcomer had multiple hits in 11 games and multiple RBIs in nine games. Herzog ranked second in the AMCC in doubles and seventh in RBIs. She went 8-for-8 in stolen bases, smacked two home runs and was named AMCC Athlete of the Week.

Kirik finished with a team-best .378 batting average with 28 hits in 74 at-bats. She drove in 13, scored 10 runs and hit a pair of doubles. In the last game of the season, Kirik smashed her first collegiate home run.

Hedderick, the third baseman, ranked second on the team in hits (31), RBIs (25) and doubles (8). She had a team-high three home runs, including two in the same game against Hilbert. Hedderick hit .320 on the season and scored 14 runs. She also spent time on the mound, making 18 appearances and striking out 39 batters.
