Softball Finishes Spring Break Trip

CLERMONT, Fl. – The Penn State Behrend softball team concluded their spring break trip with a 10-2 (five innings) loss to Babson and 10-5 loss to Simmons on Friday afternoon in Clermont, Florida.

Kelsey Fuller (Albion, PA/Northwestern) went 3-for-4 with two runs and Kelly Hedderick (Waterford, PA/Mercyhurst) had a pair of RBIs in game two. Simmons scored all 10 runs in the first three innings, knocking in five in the first, two in the second and three in the third.

The Lions recorded three runs in the third. Sydney Sherrieb (Washington, PA/Trinity) and Fuller singled. Sherrieb and Allania Banta (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) scored on an error and a single by Maddie Mulig (Shaler, PA/Shaler) knocked in Fuller.

In the opener, Babson scattered 10 runs on nine hits including six in the second inning. The Lions tallied two runs on four hits.

In game one, Behrend smacked 14 hits for five runs to get their second win of the season. Mulig scored on an error in the first and Shannon McDonnell (Fayston, VT/Harwood Union) got the next run in the second on a wild pitch.

The Lions return to action on Saturday against Thiel. The doubleheader begins at 1 p.m.
