Pitt-Bradford Edges Behrend in AMCC Tournament

ERIE, Pa. – Sydney Mosby allowed just three hits and struck out six to lead fourth-seed Pitt-Bradford past top-seed Penn State Behrend on the first day of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Tournament.

The Panthers (23-11), who tallied a 3-0 win over No. 5 D'Youville earlier in the day, only needed one run on six hits to remain undefeated going into day two of the championships. Amber Fox scored the game winning run and was the only Pitt-Bradford player with a pair of hits.

For the Lions (20-15), Kelsey Fuller (Albion, PA/Northwestern) had one of the three hits while throwing a complete game for the loss. She gave up six hits and one earned run in the circle.

Fuller worked her way out of the third inning with bases loaded to only surrender one run, but it was the only one the Panthers needed. Olivia Taylor and Amber Fox hit back-to-back singles, while Brianna Stenta reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases. Fox came around the bases to reach home on a ground out by Ang Comilla for a 1-0 lead.

In the final four innings, Behrend could not get runners off second to get the tying run. The Lions stranded seven runners over the course of the game.

The Lions return to action tomorrow against No. 6 La Roche in an elimination game, beginning at 11 a.m.
