Softball Ready for AMCC Tournament

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend softball team will be making its 15th appearance in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Tournament this weekend at D'Youville in Buffalo, NY.

The Lions (19-13, 15-3 AMCC) earned the second seed and received a first-round bye. Behrend will battle the winner of third-seed Penn State Altoona (24-11, 14-14) and sixth-seed Pitt-Greensburg (18-14, 13-5 AMCC) in second-round action on Friday, May 1 at 2 p.m. The tournament will continue on Saturday, with the finals slated for Sunday, May 3.  D'Youville claimed the top seed and is hosting the championships for the first time in program history.

The champion will receive the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

Behrend is looking for its sixth conference championship and first title since 2012. During the regular season, the Lions split with D'Youville, Penn State Altoona and La Roche while sweeping the remaining six AMCC teams and going undefeated at home.
