Lions Take on Medaille in Home Opener

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend softball team will compete in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) doubleheader against Medaille in their home opener at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. today.

Penn State Behrend News & Notes

* The Lions are 11-7 overall with a 4-0 AMCC record
* Behrend swept both Pitt-Bradford and Penn State Altoona to begin their conference play
* Against Altoona, the Lions won 4-3 and 10-1
* In game one, the team went into extra innings after being tied 1-1 through seven innings
* Behrend scored three runs in the eighth and held Altoona to two to get the win
* The Lions tallied nine runs in the sixth inning of game two led by the teams eight singles to take down the Altoona Lions

* Medaille opened the conference season with two losses to Mt. Aloysius on Saturday
* The Mavericks fell 3-2 in the first game and 6-5 in the second
* The teams two runs in game one were off a Hannah Lagrou two-run homer
* In game two, Medaille was led by senior Mercedes Sulzbach who finished with two hits and two RBI's
* Sulzbach leads the team this year with 21 hits and nine RBI's, hitting a .382 average

* Behrend and Medaille have a series history dating back to the 2004 season
