ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend softball team will take on Albright on Saturday in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) semifinal.

* The Lions qualified for the ECAC tournament and will host the semifinal and championship rounds on Saturday and Sunday
* Behrend will be the No. 1 seed and will take on No. 4 Albright
* The Lions come into the tournament with a 27-11 overall record
* Behrend took part in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) tournament, falling to Franciscan in the semi-final round to be eliminated
* Senior pitcher AJ Nichols (Pittsburgh, PA/Shaler) was named the AMCC Pitcher of the Year
* Nichols boasts a 2.45 ERA, registering 120 strikeouts in 123 innings pitched
* Nichols was also named AMCC First-Team at the designated player position, batting .376 with 50 hits this season
* Carson Hauser (Westfield, NY/Westfield Academy), Katie Gozzard (Pittsburgh, PA/Deer Lakes) and Alayna Derzak (Seven Fields, PA/Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic) were named All-Conference first team along with Nichols

* The Lions qualified for the ECAC tournament as the No. 4 seed
* Albright took on Hunter on Wednesday in the first round, winning 6-5
* The Lions have a 25-17 overall record this season
* Albright had two home runs in the third inning against the Hawks, coming out with a 3-0 lead
* Jessica Rodriguez led the team with three hits, two RBIs and one run
* Allison Melahn got the win on the mound, improving to a 16-6 record
