Behrend Softball Picked to Finish Second in AMCC Preseason Poll

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's softball team was chosen to finish in second place in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC), according to the preseason voting by the league's head coaches.

The Lions are looking to secure their ninth AMCC title after falling to Franciscan in the AMCC playoffs during the 2019 season. Pitt-Bradford is predicted to finish third while 2019 champs Mount Aloysius are expected to finish first.

Players to watch for Behrend are senior Marissa Torretti (DuBois, PA/Dubois) and junior Kylee Bundy (DuBois, PA/DuBois). Torretti was named Second Team All-Conference in 2019. She recorded 29 hits, 20 runs, and six RBIs in 2019. She finished the season with a .305 batting average and was tied for first in AMCC play with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. Bundy finished the 2019 season with 31 hits, 19 runs, and 16 RBIs in 91 at-bats. She finished with a .341 batting average and recorded 44 put-outs.

The AMCC championship will be held on Saturday, May 15 at the site of the #1 seed, with the winner earning the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
