Lions Split With Carnegie Mellon Monday

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend softball team split with Carnegie Mellon on Monday in non-conference action.

Game 1
* The Lions fell to the Tartans in game one, 6-2
* Behrend fell behind 3-0 by the end of the second inning 
* The Lions were unable to register a hit until Maria Jones (Wilcox, PA/Johnsonburg) had a double to left center in the bottom of the sixth
* Behrend tallied three hits and two runs in the sixth
* Carnegie Mellon scored one more run in the sixth inning, securing the win
 
Game 2
* The Lions fell behind 2-0 after the top of the first but were able to match the Tartans 2-2 in the bottom of the inning
* Down 4-3 in the fifth, Behrend scored two runs to take a lead
* Emi Curcio (Perryopolis, PA/Frazier) and Jones each had an RBI with singles to secure the lead
* The game was called in the sixth inning due to darkness
* Jones led the Lions with two hits and one RBI
* Cami McNany (Emlenton, PA/Allegheny-Clarion Valley) chipped in three RBIs and one hit
* Alaina Wyckoff (Elma, NY/Iroquois Central) tallied her first win of the season on the mound
