ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend softball team split with Penn State Altoona in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Games of the Week on Saturday.

Game 1
* In game one, Behrend fell to Altoona, 6-3
* The Behrend Lions took a 2-0 lead in the third inning, with Kylee Bundy (DuBois, PA/DuBois) singling to right field, sending two runs home
* The Altoona Lions answered, scoring two in the bottom of the third
* Behrend regained the lead in the sixth, 3-2 after a Maria Jones (Wilcox, PA/Johnsonburg) double to left center
* Altoona scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 6-3 lead, a lead Behrend could not overcome
* Alaina Wyckoff (Elma, Ny/Iroquois Central) pitched 5.1 innings and Jones came in in relief for just two outs, striking out both

Game 2
* Behrend won the second game of the series against the Altoona Lions, 10-0 in six innings
* This is the Behrend Lions first shutout of the season
* The game was scoreless for two innings until Behrend took one run in the third
* Marissa Torretti (DuBois, PA/DuBois) had a sacrifice bunt to send Maddie Smith (DuBois, PA/DuBois) to third and Bundy grounded out to second to send her home and receive an RBI
* The Behrend Lions continued to hit, scoring three runs in the fifth and six in the sixth
* Behrend tallied three in the fifth off one hit from Torretti and two Altoona errors
* In the sixth, the Behrend Lions registered seven hits for six runs
* Mackenzie McIntire (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview) and Ashleigh Schmidt (Sarver, PA/Freeport) had back-to-back hits followed by a single from Smith, sending home a run
* Torretti hit a blast to left center to send in a run, followed by two RBIs off a single from Bundy
* Behrend scored the fifth run on two errors by Altoona followed by a hit from Samantha Manioci (Rochester, NY/Odyssey Academy) sending Bundy home
* Schmidt improved to 3-1 on the season pitching a complete game with four strikeouts
