Softball Sweeps La Roche in AMCC Games of the Week

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend softball team swept La Roche on Saturday in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Games of the Week.

Game 1
* In game one, Behrend took down the Redhawks, 9-1 in five innings
* The Lions came out swinging, scoring one run in the first and two in the second
* La Roche answered with one run in the third but Behrend kept scoring, ending the game in just five innings
* Kayla Lindberg (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) pitched a complete game, improving to a 4-2 record
* She tallied five strikeouts and gave up just one run
* Mackenzie McIntire (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview) had a double with two RBIs and a sac fly
* As a team, the Lions had five stolen bases with two for Marissa Torretti (DuBois, PA/DuBois)
* Maria Jones (Wilcox, PA/Jonhsonburg) and Cami McNany (Emlenton, PA/Allegheny-Clarion Valley) each had two hits, one being a double, and an RBI a piece
Game 2
* Behrend won the second game of the series against the La Roche Redhawks, 4-3
* The Lions won on a walk-off walk with bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh
* After four innings, the teams were tied 2-2
* La Roche took a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth after Devan Smith doubled to right field
* The Lions tied it up in the sixth as McNany sent Torretti home with a single down the right field line
* Behrend loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh with Ashleigh Schmidt (Sarver, PA/Freeport) up to bat
* Pitcher Alexa Young walked Schmidt to send Samantha Manioci (Rochester, NY/Odyssey Academy) home to secure a Lions 4-3 win
* McIntire tallied a solo home run and RBI
* Torretti went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases
* Alaina Wyckoff (Elma, NY/Iroquois Cental) improved to 2-1 on the season, pitching two innings with two strikeouts

* Penn State Behrend will travel to Pitt-Bradford tomorrow for a non-conference doubleheader at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
