McIntire, Jones Headline AMCC All-Conference Honors

ERIE, Pa. – Senior Mackenzie McIntire (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview) was named the 2021 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Softball Player of the Year and freshman Maria Jones (Wilcox, PA/Johnsonburg) was named AMCC Newcomer of the Year, headlining the All-AMCC team announced on Tuesday.

McIntire and Jones were chosen to the All-Conference first team along with seniors Marissa Torretti (DuBois, PA/DuBois) and Lauren Olevnik (Waverly Township, PA/Abington Heights) and juniors Samantha Manioci (Rochester, NY/Odyssey Academy) and Kylee Bundy (DuBois, PA/DuBois). Junior Ashleigh Schmidt (Sarver, PA/Freeport) earned second-team honors and sophomore Cami McNany (Emlenton, PA/Allegheny-Clarion Valley) and freshman Kayla Lindberg (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) were named to the third team.

McIntire was voted AMCC Player of the Year along with All-Conference first team for third base. McIntire was named to the All-Conference team for her third time after being named first team and Newcomer of the Year in 2018 and second team in 2019. McIntire appeared in 14 games for the Lions. In 51 at-bats, she tallied 28 hits, 24 RBIs, 10 runs, eight doubles, and three home runs. She had a .549 batting average, .556 on-base percentage, and .882 slugging percentage. She contributed 45 total bases and a .857 fielding percentage. McIntire is ranked first in total bases with 45 and batting average with .549. She is second in the AMCC in hits (28), doubles (8), home runs (3), RBIs (24), and slugging percentage (.882). McIntire also has the third best on-base percentage with .556. On May 1, McIntire tallied her 47th career double to beat the Behrend record as well as her 100th career RBI. She now sits at 51 career-doubles. McIntire has 17 multiple hit games this season and 11 multiple RBI games.

Jones makes her first All-Conference appearance on the first-team at the designated player position. Jones played in 31 games for the Lions in conference play. In 104 at-bats, Jones tallied 39 runs, 46 hits, 13 doubles, four triples, 17 RBIs, and 22 stolen bases. She has a .442 batting average, .496 on-base percentage, and .644 slugging percentage. Jones is ranked first stolen bases in the AMCC (22). She is second in runs (39) and hits (46), and third in doubles (13), triples (4), total bases (67), and on-base percentage (.496).

Torretti earned her second All-AMCC accolades at the outfield position after being named to the second team in 2019. Torretti played in 32 games for the Lions. In 108 at-bats, she tallied 39 hits, 39 runs, 15 RBIs, 13 walks, and 18 stolen bases. She currently has a .361 batting average, .434 on-base percentage, and .407 slugging percentage. Torretti had 40 putouts and five assists from center field for a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. She is ranked first in the AMCC in fielding percentage and second in walks (13) and stolen bases (18).

Olevnik tallied her first All-Conference selection as an outfielder. Olevnik appeared in 28 games for the Lions. In 78 at-bats, she tallied 29 hits, 16 runs, three doubles, and 17 RBIs. She is batting .372 with a .405 on-base percentage and .436 slugging percentage. She tallied 35 putouts for a .972 fielding percentage from right field.

Manioci was named to the All-AMCC team at the first base position, her first All-Conference appearance. Manioci appeared in 33 games for the Lions this season. She tallied 39 hits, nine doubles, four triples, and 23 runs in 96 at-bats. She has a .406 batting average, .482 on-base percentage, and .583 slugging percentage. She tallied 234 putouts and four assists from first base for a .983 fielding percentage. Manioci is ranked first in putouts (234) and second in double plays (11).

Bundy earned her first All-Conference honors at second base. Bundy appeared in 32 games for the Lions at second base. In 97 at-bats, she tallied 43 hits, 40 runs, 12 doubles, four triples, and 34 RBIs. She also contributed six stolen bases and 69 total bases. She currently has a .443 batting average, .491 on-base percentage, and .711 slugging percentage. Bundy is ranked first in the AMCC in runs with 40. She is also ranked second in RBIs (34), total bases (69) and slugging percentage (.711)

Schmidt earned second-team honors.  Schmidt played in 26 games for the Lions with 13 appearances on the mound. Schmidt started 11 games in the circle, finishing with a 10-1 record. She pitched seven complete games and three shutouts. In 65.2 inning pitched, she struck out 58 batters and finished with a 2.56 ERA. She threw a no-hitter in an 11-0 win over Medaille on April 27. She is ranked first in the AMCC in wins with 10 and second in shutouts and strikeouts per game (6.18).

McNany earned an All-Conference third-team spot in the catcher position. McNany appeared in 31 games for the Lions this season. McNany tallied 35 hits, 30 RBIs, 15 doubles, 11 runs, and two stolen bases. She currently has a .380 batting average, .414 on-base percentage, and .543 slugging percentage in 92 at-bats. In the catcher position, has 120 putouts and a .992 fielding percentage. McNany had nine multiple hit games and tallied RBIs in 14 games. Against Alfred State on April 20, she went 6-for-7 and tallied 11 RBIs. In conference play, McNany is ranked second in doubles and third in RBIs. 

Lindberg tallied her first all-conference honors as a pitcher on the third-team. Lindberg saw time on the mound in 14 games. She tallied 12 starts and has an 8-3 record. In 65.2 innings pitched, she struck out 42 batters and earned a 2.24 ERA. Lindberg is ranked first in shutouts (3) and third in ERA and batting average against (.246)
