Softball Sweeps Pitt-Greensburg in AMCC Opener

GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend softball team opened Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) play with a pair of wins over Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday. The Lions won 13-0 in five innings in game one and tallied a 12-2 victory in game two. 

Game One: Penn State Behrend 13, Pitt-Greensburg 0 (5)
Records: Penn State Behrend (7-7, 1-0 AMCC), Pitt-Greensburg (2-13, 0-1 AMCC) 

Noteworthy: 

* The Lions scattered 13 runs over three consecutive inning 
* Defensively, Ashleigh Schmidt (Sarver, PA/Freeport) pitched a three-hit shutout for fourth win in the circle
* Emi Curcio (Perryopolis, PA/Frazier) went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles
* Maddie Smith (DuBois, PA/DuBois) was a perfect 3-for-3 with a double, triple and three runs scored
* Behrend grabbed a 5-0 lead after the second inning and scattered eight more over the next two 

Game Two: Penn State Behrend 12, Pitt-Greensburg 2
Records: Penn State Behrend (8-7, 2-0 AMCC), Pitt-Greensburg (2-14, 0-2 AMCC)

Noteworthy: 

* Behrend never trailed in game two, taking a 3-0 in the third
* The Bobcats scored both runs in the bottom of the frame to make it 3-2 
* The Lions scored two runs in the fifth, two in the sixth and five in the seventh
* Kylee Bundy (DuBois, PA/DuBois) registered three hits and three runs
* Cami McNany (Emlenton, PA/Allegheny-Clarion Valley) had a pair of doubles and one run
* Kayla Lindberg (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) recorded the lone triple of the game
