Behrend Softball Takes Two From La Roche; Bundy Collects 100th Hit, Gruber Records 200th Win

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend softball team tallied two wins against the La Roche in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Tuesday. The Lions tallied a 5-0 victory and an 11-8 decision in game two.

Noteworthy:

* Head coach Ashley Gruber reached 200 career wins in game one
* Senior infielder Kylee Bundy (DuBois, PA/DuBois) amassed 100 career hits in game two with a 3-for-4 performance

Game One: Penn State Behrend 5, La Roche 0
Records: Penn State Behrend (11-11, 5-2 AMCC), La Roche (5-8, 0-3 AMCC) 

Key Moments:

* Ashleigh Schmidt (Sarver, PA/Freeport) collected her third shutout of the season, fanning nine and allowing just two hits for her seventh win
* Jocelyn McNany (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and four runs scored
* The Lions scored runs in the odd innings for their fifth conference victory
* Maria Jones (Wilcox, PA/Johnsonburg) started the game with a single and scored on J. McNany's first double
* J. McNany came home on Cami McNany's (Emlenton, PA/Allegheny-Clarion Valley) single to center field for a 2-0 lead
* J. McNany scored the next three runs for the Lions, one in each inning for a 5-0 margin
* C. McNany, Jones and Samantha Manioci (Rochester, NY/Odyssey Academy) tallied two hits apiece

Game Two: 
Penn State Behrend 11, La Roche 8
Records: Penn State Behrend (12-11, 6-2 AMCC), La Roche (5-9, 0-4 AMCC) 

Key Moments: 

* La Roche jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first frame
* Behrend managed to get on the board in the third with a run from Jones off a C. McNany RBI single
* The Lions added another run the fourth and then returned the favor with six runs in the fifth inning to take the lead for good at 8-7
* Behrend added insurance runs in the sixth and seventh inning for the sweep
* Bundy had three hits, scored three runs and drove in two
* Kayla Lindberg (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) registered her fourth win in relief, pitching 6.2 innings and striking out three
* Kayla Salvini (McDonald, PA/Fort Cherry) tallied two hits, while Nadia Bongiorni (Avella, PA/Avella) made her hit a double
