ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend softball team took a pair of games from Alfred State in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Tuesday afternoon. The Lions won both games in five innings (11-3, 8-0).

Game One: Penn State Behrend 11, Alfred State 3 (5 innings)
Records: Penn State Behrend (17-13, 11-2 AMCC), Alfred State (9-18, 5-8 AMCC)

* The Lions scored all 11 runs in the first two innings
* Behrend tallied seven runs on seven hits in the bottom of the first to take the commanding lead
* The Lions had five players with multiple hits
* Maria Jones (Wilcox, PA/Johnsonburg) went 3-for-4 with two RBIs
* Jocelyn McNany (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) tallied a two-run homer to start the scoring
* With bases loaded, Emi Curcio (Perryopolis, PA/Frazier) singled and advanced on an error to score Kylee Bundy (DuBois, PA/DuBois) and Samantha Manioci (Rochester, NY/Odyssey Academy)
* Kayla Salvini (McDonald, PA/Fort Cherry) doubled to score two more and make it 6-0 before scoring on a Jones single to end the first inning
* Behrend grabbed an 11-0 lead after the second inning to stay out in front for good
* The Pioneers scored two runs in the third and one in the fourth
* Alfred State had bases loaded with two outs and Ashleigh Schmidt (Sarver, PA/Freeport) got her sixth strike out of the game to get out of the jam
* Schmidt improves to 8-4 in the circle with the win

Game Two: Penn State Behrend 8, Alfred State 0
Records: Penn State Behrend (18-13, 12-2 AMCC), Alfred State (9-19, 5-9 AMCC)

* Kayla Lindberg (Austinburg, Ohio/Geneva) threw a two-hit shutout for her sixth win of the season
* Cami McNany (Emlenton, PA/Allegheny-Clarion Valley) and Nadia Bongiorni (Avella, PA/Avella) each tallied two hits
* Identical to game one, the Lions scored all eight runs in the first two innings
* C. McNany scored Jones and Bongiorni in the first inning with a double to centerfield for a 2-0 lead
* Behrend had bases loaded with no outs in the second, cashing in on four hits for six more runs
* C. McNany, who finished with four RBIs, collected two more in the second with a single to left field

* The Behrend Lions will face Penn State Altoona in a showdown for first place in the AMCC on Saturday. Game times are 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
