ERIE, Pa. – Junior Cami McNany (Emlenton, PA/Allegheny-Clarion Valley) and senior Ashleigh Schmidt (Sarver, PA/Freeport) were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Region IV Third Team, announced on Monday.
McNany and Schmidt are coming off Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Pitcher and Player of the Year honors to earn All-Region for the first time in their careers. Both helped the Lions capture the AMCC Championship and were named to the All-Tournament Team.
In 36 games, McNany paced the team with 45 hits, 42 RBIs and 11 doubles. She is ranked 13th in NCAA Division III statistics with 1.41 RBIs per game. McNany only struck out three times in 123 plate appearances, while posting a .534 slugging percentage and a .970 fielding percentage.
Schmidt finished the season with a 2.62 ERA, good enough for fifth in the conference. She led the team with 11 wins in the circle in 19 appearances. Schmidt tallied three wins in the AMCC Tournament and struck out 13. Overall, she registered 80 strikeouts in 96.1 innings pitched.
