Behrend Softball Sweeps Pitt-Bradford

BRADFORD, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend softball team posted two shutouts in the sweep over Pitt-Bradford in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Wednesday. The Lions won 2-0 and 6-0.

Game One: Penn State Behrend 2, Pitt-Bradford 0
Records: Penn State Behrend (12-13, 6-1 AMCC), Pitt-Bradford (7-22, 2-5 AMCC)

Key Moments: 

* Kayla Lindberg (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) threw her second complete-game shutout, allowing three hits for her seventh win of the season
* The Lions scored a run in the second and in the seventh without registering a hit
* Meghan Pettite (Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway) walked as the leadoff batter, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch to get in scoring position
* Lexi Edgett (Frisco, TX/Lone Star) got Pettite off third with a ground out RBI
* Behrend took advance of another walk and two more wild pitches to register the second run in the seventh
* Abby Tingley (Union City, PA/Union City), pinch hitting for Kayla Salvini (McDonald, PA/Fort Cherry), walked and made it to third on a pair of wild pitches
* Chloe McLaughlin (Greenville, PA/Reynolds) reached on an error to score Tingley for a 2-0 lead
* Lindberg got three straight outs in the bottom of the frame for the game-one victory

Game Two: Penn State Behrend 6, Pitt-Bradford 0

Key Moments: 

* Tingley collected her second shutout of the season, striking out five and allowing four hits to get her fourth win
* The Panthers had a no-hitter through four innings
* Behrend exploded for four runs on one hit in the top of the fifth inning
* A pair of runs scored on a fielder's choice, sacrifice bunt and then a ground out before Jocelyn McNany (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) drove in two more with a RBI single
* The Lions added two more runs in the sixth for the final margin
* McNany had two of the four hits for Behrend
* Petitte registered the lone extra-base hit for the Lions
