Lions Claim Second Straight Win Over Husson; Unable To Get Past Adrian in Second Game
The Penn State Behrend softball team began Tuesday with an 8-0 shutout victory over Husson, before falling 7-6 to Adrian in the second game of the day.

LEESBURG, Fla. - The Penn State Behrend softball team began Tuesday with an 8-0 shutout victory over Husson, before falling 7-6 to Adrian in the second game of the day.
Game One: Penn State Behrend 8, Husson 0

Key Moments:
* Behrend scored in every inning of play against the Eagles in Tuesday's contest
* Maria Jones (Wilcox, PA/Johnsonburg) got the Lions on the board in the first inning, crossing the plate on a passed ball
* Junior Sierra Williams (Grove City, PA/Lakeview) gave Behrend a 2-0 lead with an RBI triple in the top of the second
* In the third inning, freshman Athena Iverson (Pittsburgh, PA/The Ellis School) tallied her first collegiate RBI on a fielder's choice
* The Lions took a 5-0 advantage thanks to a Lexi Edgett (Frisco, TX/Lone Star) two-run double in the fifth
* M. Jones capped off the scoring for Behrend in the top of the fifth and put the eight-run rule in effect with an RBI double
* Starting pitcher Abby Tingley (Union City, PA/Union City) threw a complete game shutout, giving up four hits with no walks
* At the plate, Jocelyn McNany (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) went 2-for-4, while Edgett delivered two hits and two RBIs

Key Moments:
* The Bulldogs notched the first run of the game with an RBI single from Ava Wolfe in the top of the first
* Behrend threatened in the next half inning with first and third and one out but Adrian's pitcher Maccee Schang was able to work out of the jam
* Adrian tacked on two more runs in the third on a pair of doubles by Maggie Leveille and Peyton Russell to take a 3-0 lead
* A passed ball and wild pitch in the fourth inning would push across two more Bulldog runs
* The Lions got on the board in the bottom of the fourth, scoring two runs on an error by Adrian's third baseman
* However, the Bulldogs put their lead back to five runs (7-2) with a pair of RBI doubles in the sixth
* Behrend rallied in the sixth and seventh innings, highlighted by a two-RBI triple from Kayla Salvini (McDonald, PA/Fort Cherry) and an RBI double off the bat of M. Jones but Bulldogs pitcher Schang worked out of trouble to close the game for her first victory on the mound this season
* M. Jones and Salvini both recorded two hits for the Lions, while Salvini and McNany each registered two runs batted in
* In 1.1 innings of relief for Behrend, Tingley surrendered only one hit
* Adrian was led by Taylor Gerhardt's game-high four knocks, while Leveille finished with two RBIs
