LEESBURG, Fla. - A nine-run seventh inning and five-run eighth inning by Saint Mary's (Minn.) carried them to victory over the Penn State Behrend softball team in the first game Thursday afternoon. The Lions went on to fall to Sage in game two, 3-1.

Game One: Saint Mary's (Minn.) 15, Penn State Behrend (11)
Records: Saint Mary's (Minn.) (11-1), Penn State Behrend (5-2)

Key Moments:

* In what ended up being a high-scoring affair, neither team plated more than a run after two innings of play
* Behrend took a 5-1 lead in the fourth, thanks to a three-run double from Meghan Pettite (Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway) and an RBI single off the bat of Kayla Salvini (McDonald, PA/Fort Cherry)
* Sophomore Alexia Brown (Wexford, PA/Pine-Richland) tacked on two more runs for the Lions with a two-run double in the bottom of the fifth
* The Cardinals rallied back in the seventh with nine runs on 11 hits to grab their first lead of the game (10-7)
* The Lions forced extra innings, knotting the score at 10 apeice with RBI singles from Abby Tingley (Union City, PA/Union City) and Maria Jones (Wilcox, PA/Johnsonburg)
* Saint Mary's (Minn.) registered five runs in the top of the extra frame to notch a 15-10 advantage
* Brown drove in a run in the bottom half of the extra frame but it was not enough as the Cardinals earned their 11th victory of the season
* Salvini and Pettite delivered three hits for the Lions, while Pettite and Brown each recorded three RBIs
* For the Cardinals, Naleya Bork finished 4-for-5 with two runs batted in

* ​Salvini got the Lions on the board with a sac fly in the fourth to cut Behrend's deficit to 3-1

* Gators pitcher Leah Madore allowed only one run on six hits and five strikeouts in the complete game effort
* At the plate, the Lions were led by Jocelyn McNany's (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) three hits, two of which were extra-base hits
* Ciana Santana went 2-for-2 for Sage, while Madalyn Ring and Allison Kenyon tallied an RBI
