Behrend Softball Takes Two From Pitt-Bradford in AMCC Action

­BRADFORD, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend softball team tallied two more Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) wins, defeating Pitt-Bradford 3-0 and 8-0 (5) on Tuesday afternoon.

Game One: Penn State Behrend 3, Pitt-Bradford 0
Records: Penn State Behrend (19-8, 7-0 AMCC), Pitt-Bradford (14-7, 3-2 AMCC)

Key Moments: 

* Abby Tingley (Union City, PA/Union City) threw a complete one-hit shutout, while striking out eight in game one
* Offensively, the Lions scattered three runs over three innings on seven hits
* Back-to-back singles put two runners on with Maria Jones (Wilcox, PA/Johnsonburg) advancing to third on the throw from Jocelyn McNany's (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) hit to center
* Meghan Petitte (Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway) got Jones in on a fielder's choice sacrifice bunt for a 1-0 lead in the third
* The next inning, Britney Shaw (St. Marys, PA/St. Marys) doubled to right center to score Kayla Salvini (McDonald, PA/Fort Cherry) to make it 2-0
* Behrend did the same inning in the fifth, using a double this time by Lexi Edgett (Frisco, TX/Lone Star) to score McNany for the final 3-0
* The Panthers registered their lone hit in the first inning and lost the battle to Tingley in the final six innings
* McNany and Edgett each tallied a pair of hits in the win

Game Two:  Penn State Behrend 8, Pitt-Bradford 0

Key Moments: 

* Senior pitcher Kayla Lindberg (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) followed Tingley with a three-hit shutout in game two
* Lindberg struck out nine in just five innings of work and walking one for her ninth win in the circle
* Sierra Williams (Grove City, PA/Grove City) went 2-for-3 with four RBIs, smacking a triple that nearly cleared the fence
* Julia Jones (Wilcox, PA/Johnsonburg) tallied three hits in three at-bats with two runs scored
* The Lions had a big five-run fourth inning and then added three more in the fifth
* Williams was responsible for two runs in the fourth with a single up the middle before scoring on a Shaw double to left field
* Williams then added a two-RBI triple in the fifth to have a hand in scoring in both innings
