Petitte, Tingley Highlight All-AMCC Softball Awards; Gruber Named Coach of the Year

ERIE, Pa. – Sophomore outfielder Meghan Petitte (Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway) was named the 2024 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Player of the Year, while sophomore pitcher Abby Tingley (Union City, PA/Union City) earned Pitcher of the Year and head coach Ashley Gruber was voted Coach of the Year to highlight the All-AMCC Team, announced on Tuesday. 

Petitte, Tingley, senior pitcher Kayla Lindberg (Austinburg, OH/Geneva), junior first base Jocelyn McNany (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley), senior second base Maria Jones (Wilcox, PA/Johnsonburg) and senior shortstop Kayla Salvini (McDonald, PA/Fort Cherry) were named to the All-AMCC First Team. Junior outfielder Sierra Williams (Grove City, PA/Lakeview) landed on the Second Team to round out the honors. Coach Gruber was named Coach of the Year for a third time in her 11 seasons, leading the team to their 11th overall AMCC title.

Petitte is the 11th player in program history to earn AMCC Player of the Year. She was first in AMCC games in RBIs (23), triples (4), home runs (4) and slugging percentage (.855). Petitte was third in hits (24) and sixth in batting average (.436). Overall, Petitte leads the AMCC and the team with 39 RBIs, and is second with 57 hits and a .717 slugging percentage. She is also second in doubles (12) and third in runs (38). She has 18 multiple-hit games and 12 multiple-RBI games.

Tingley becomes the fifth pitcher in program history to be named AMCC Pitcher of the Year. She led the AMCC with a 0.87 ERA in nine conference wins. She went undefeated in AMCC action, pitching 56.1 innings and striking out 50 (6.21 per game). Tingley allowed seven earned runs in nine games. She pitched three shutouts in AMCC action and five overall. She is first in the conference in overall wins (18) and is first in ERA (1.06), while ranking fourth in strikeouts (85).

Lindberg, a four-time All-AMCC selection, went undefeated in AMCC games at 9-0, pitching 53 innings. She led the AMCC in strikeouts with 52 (6.87 per game) and was first in ERA (0.79), only allowing six runs in nine games. Lindberg is second overall with 15 total wins and strikeouts (101) and is ranked second in ERA (1.91). She reached 200 career strikeouts this season vs. Hilbert. Lindberg threw seven shut-out wins, including three in conference.

McNany, a three-time All-AMCC selection, is first in conference games in runs with 21, second with 20 RBIs and three home runs and is fourth in hits (22). Overall, she is first in the AMCC in home runs (7) and RBIs (42), while being tied for second in fourth in doubles (11). McNany has 20 multiple-hit games and 12 multiple-RBI games.

Jones, a three-time First Team honoree, led AMCC games in runs scored (23) and was fourth in hits (24) and tied for fifth with five doubles. She also led with 11 stolen bases in nine games and smacked three triples. Overall, Jones is first in the conference with 45 runs, 18 doubles and is third with 55 hits and sixth in RBIs (32). The senior has 16 multiple-hit games, while breaking the school record for most doubles in a season with 18.

Salvini is earning her first All-Conference accolade. She was first in conference games with four triples. Salvini is fourth on the team with 41 hits. Salvini has scored 21 runs, drove in 21 and tallied six triples, three doubles and a home run. Defensively, she has turned four doubles plays in AMCC action and is seventh with 53 assists.

Williams repeats on the Second Team after being first in AMCC games with nine doubles and four triples. She is third in slugging percentage (.822) and fourth in batting average (.444). Williams is perfect in the outfield in 18 conference games with 14 putouts. Overall, she is second in doubles (12) and third in triples (5). Williams has 31 hits and 29 RBIs, while scoring 21 runs this season.
