CLERMONT, FL – The Penn State Behrend softball team edged Saint Joseph's (ME) 9-8 in game one and fell to Lake Forest 7-2 in game two over spring break in Clermont, Florida on Tuesday afternoon.
Game One: Penn State Behrend 9, Saint Joseph's (ME) 8
Records: Penn State Behrend (4-1), Saint Joseph's (1-3)
Key Moments:
* Jocelyn McNany (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) registered a pair home runs, including a solo homer in the sixth that would count as the eventual game-winning run
* McNany went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs and Meghan Petitte was 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs
* A total of 13 runs were scored between the two teams in the first two innings
* Behrend tallied nine hits, including six extra-base hits and two coming in the first inning
* Saint Joseph scored four runs without recording a hit in the first inning
* The Lions responded with a Petitte triple to center to score Chloe Nale (Aliquippa, PA/Hopewell), who walked to start the inning
* McNany followed with her first home run to get Petitte off third and cut the lead by one
* Saint Joseph's extended the lead to 6-3 with two runs in the second
* In the bottom of the frame, a pair of doubles by Alexia Brown (Wexford, PA/Pine-Richland) and Petitte along with singles from Nale and McNany got Behrend four runs to make it 7-6
* A run in the fifth and then McNany's second home run extended the lead to 9-6
* Saint Joseph's tallied two runs in the top of the seventh but Abby Tingley (Union City, PA/Union City) came in to register the final two outs for the save
* Lauren Rabanal (San Diego, CA/Westview) pitched 5.2 innings to collect her first win of the season in the circle
Game Two: Lake Forest 7, Penn State Behrend 2

Key Moments:
* Lake Forest used a four-run, fifth inning to break open a 3-2 game
* The Foresters scattered three runs in the first four innings for a 3-0 lead
* Behrend tallied both runs in the top of the fifth to cut the lead to one
* Athena Iverson (Pittsburgh, PA/The Ellis School) doubled down the left-field line and Sierra Williams (Grove City, PA/Lake View) singled up the middle
* Both advanced a base on a wild pitch, scoring Iverson and Williams reached home on an error by the second base
