Behrend Softball Hands Marietta First Loss; Lions Fall in Game Two

MARIETTA, Ohio – The Penn State Behrend softball team defeated Marietta 11-6 in game one and fell 26-10 in the nightcap on Saturday afternoon.
Game One: Penn State Behrend 11, Marietta 6

* The Lions handed Marietta their first loss of the season
* Jocelyn McNany (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) tallied her fifth home run of the season to start the scoring in the top of the fourth
* Marietta grabbed the lead with three runs in the bottom of the fourth and three more In fifth for a 6-1 advantage
* McNany scored her second run of the game in the sixth to make it 6-2
* Behrend then used eight hits to explode for nine runs in the top of the seventh to regain the lead and secure the win
* The Lions started the inning with three straight extra base hits
* Sierra Williams (Grove City, PA/Lakeview) ripped a double, followed by a Hannah Smith (Harborcreek, PA/Harbor Creek) triple and Isabel Pozar (Flagstaff, AZ/Coconino) double
* Two more doubles turned into runs after Williams smacked her first homer of the season to clear the bases to make it 11-6
* Smith finished 4-for-4, while Athena Iverson (Pittsburgh, PA/The Ellis School), Williams and McNany recorded two hits apiece
*Abby Tingley (Union City, PA/Union City) collected the win in the circle, fanning four and allowing six runs
