Women's Basketball Takes Care of Mt. Aloysius on Home Floor, 81-48

The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team took care of the Mount Aloysius Mounties on Saturday, December 5 by a score of 81 to 48.  This league win moves the blue and white to 2-1 in the conference.

The first half featured a couple of mini runs by both teams. Behrend held a 10-8 advantage before the Mounties made a 16-7 run to take a 24-17 lead at the 5:44 mark. Kim Pol's (Erie/Central) second consecutive lay-up at the 4:21 mark cut the lead to three. Then Amy Oldach's (Erie/Villa) three-pointer started Behrend's 6-0 run to close out the first half.

Pol provided energy for the Behrend Lions racing up the floor and scoring 11 points over the first twenty minutes. Steady point guard Amy Oldach chipped in five points, four rebounds, three assists and a steals as Behrend entered the break with a 27-24 lead.

In the second period, Mt. Aloysius went scoreless for the first six plus minutes of the half and could not stay close as Behrend outscored the Mounties 54-24 en route to the thirty-three point win.

Leading the offense was freshman Taylor Lotis (Jefferson Hills/Thomas Jefferson) with 21 points on 8 x 18 from the field. Pol and Oldach each posted 14 points as the Behrend defense restricted the Mounties to 26% shooting for the game and forced 27 turnovers.

The Behrend Lions are now 3-2 overall and stand in good shape in the AMCC with a winning record of 2-1.  With the loss, the Mounties drop to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the conference.  Up next for the blue and white will be a tough road AMCC matchup with the Bobcats of Frostburg State on Saturday, December 12.  Behrend will then travel to the Land Of Magic Tournament on December 28-30.
