Women's Basketball Loses Tough Game to Pitt-Greensburg

The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team dropped a hard fought game to the Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats on Saturday, January 2 on the Junker Center Floor by a score of 75-65.

Pitt-Greensburg opened the game with a quick 9-2 spurt which saw the lead grow to even larger throught the first half.  At the 4:23 mark, Pitt-Greensburg senior Kelsey Wilcox made two free throws to put the Bobcats up by 13 at that point.  Junior Amy Oldach (Erie/Villa Maria) hit a jumper at the 3:19 mark to cut the Bobcat lead to ten and Behrend would soon gain some monentum.  Pitt-Greensburg would steal that away going into the second half as Jessica Mueseler of the Bobcats would tip back a missed shot to put the score at 34-26 heading into the half.

Behrend came out fired up in the second half as they mounted a charge of their own.  They cut the lead to one at the 14:25 mark of the second half and would soon tie the score only moments later.  It was a back and forth battle and Behrend soon had the lead at 51-48 with just over ten minutes to go in the game.  Freshman Taylor Lotis (Jefferson Hills/Thomas Jefferson) would hit a three pointer to increase Behrend's lead to six with nine minutes to go in the game.  The lead would not last as Pitt-Greensburg would make consecutive layups to put the Bobcats back up by two and they would not let the lead go.  Lotis finished with a team high 15 points while Oldach would finish with 12 points and four assists.  For Pitt-Greensburg, Wilcox would finish with 16 points and a game high 19 rebounds while teammate Casey Stanton would tally 24 points and 12 boards.

The blue and white are now 4-5 overall and 2-3 in the AMCC.  Up next for the Behrend Lions will be another AMCC contest on Wednesday, January 6 when they battle the Pitt-Bradford Panthers.
