Lions Defeat Altoona For AMCC Victory

ERIE, Pa. – In every win this season for the Penn State Behrend women's basketball team, four players have scored in double digits. The same applied to today's 69-57 victory over Penn State Altoona to give the Lions their first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) win.

Amy Oldach knocked in four three-pointers for a team-high 18 points, while Holly Bourquin recorded her sixth double-figure game with 12 point and matching a career-high four steals. Aly Eagle and Emily Detsch each contributed 11 points. Detsch also tied her season best in rebounds with nine.

Courtney Carroll led the Lady Lions (3-4, 1-1 AMCC) with 19 points, four assists and four steals.

Altoona started with back-to-back three pointers for the early 6-0 lead, but would only drain two more from behind the arc the rest of the game. Behrend (3-3, 1-1 AMCC) responded with seven points from Oldach and four from Eagle mixed with a Bourquin fast-break layup to take its first lead at 13-12.

The Lions pulled ahead by nine on triples from Eagle and Oldach. The Lady Lions came right back with an 11-3 run to knot the game at 23-all.

Another trey from Oldach made it 26-23 and Detsch scored the final seven points for Behrend to close the half with an eight-point lead.

It took the first 2:09 of the second half to take a double-digit lead on a layup by Detsch. Kim Pol followed with a steal and the ensuing basket to make it 37-25. Julia Myers worked inside the paint to earn two points and put the Lions up 50-34 at the 12:26 mark.

A three-pointer from Kaleigh Floyd reduced the lead to nine for Altoona, but Brianna Bayly's three-pointer brought it right back to a 12-point advantage. Behrend stretched the lead to 16 three more times with the last coming at the 1:28 mark.

Pol registered season high seven assists and six steals for the Lions.

Behrend returns to action on Wednesday at Hilbert. Game time is 6 p.m.
