La Roche Handles Women's Basketball in AMCC Action

ERIE, Pa. – Sabrina McLin scored a game-high 32 points to lead La Roche past Penn State Behrend 78-63 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon in the Junker Center.

The Redhawks (4-2, 2-0 AMCC) picked up their second conference win thanks to McLin's 12-for-18 shooting and also TiChina Mitchell's double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds.

Ali Goetz recorded a team-high 19 points for the second straight game, while Dani Reinwald (Clymer, NY/Clymer Central) posted her fifth double-double with 14 points and season-best 17 boards for the Lions (3-3, 1-1 AMCC).

La Roche darted out to a 16-4 lead in the first six minutes of the opening quarter and took a 22-9 advantage into the next quarter. The Redhawks shot 53.6 percent in the first half, but Behrend did outscore La Roche 19-15 in the second quarter.

The Lions held the Redhawks without a field goal for three minutes while going on a 9-0 run to get within nine points by the end of the half at 37-28. Goetz scored the first two points in the third quarter, however La Roche used an 11-0 run to regain the double-digit lead they once had in the first half.

Mitchell gave the Redhawks their biggest lead of the game at 71-45 off two points in the paint.

Behrend held a slight 39-37 edge in rebounds and managed to score five more points than La Roche in the fourth quarter.

Erika Woll (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) added nine points and five steals.

The Lions return to action on Wednesday against Pitt-Bradford. Game time is 8 p.m.
