Women's Basketball Falls To Mt. Aloysius

CRESSON, Pa. – The Mt. Aloysius women's basketball team shot 52 percent from the floor and drained 12 three-pointers to defeat Penn State Berhend 85-71 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Saturday.

The Mounties (5-2, 3-0 AMCC) remain undefeated in conference play with the help from Jessa Wright's double-double, including a game-high 21 points and 11 rebounds. Wright went 7-for-12 from the field and nailed five treys in 33 minutes of work.

The Lions (3-6, 1-2 AMCC) had four players in double figures, led by Ally Dillman's (Erie, PA/McDowell) season-best 20 points.

In a close first quarter, Dillman hit the last bucket to pull Behrend within two at 20-18. Nicole Boyer (Blairsville, PA/Blairsville) stared the second quarter with a jumper and Autumn Byes (Erie, PA/Villa Maria Academy) followed with the unconventional three-point play put the Lions ahead for the first time since the 7:01 mark of the first period at 23-20.

An 11-0 run to the lead back in favor of Mt. Aloysius at 31-20 with 5:31 remaining in the quarter. Dillman's jump shot sandwiched between Erika Woll's (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) triple and layup made it 31-30.

The difference in the game was the Mounties 15-0 run to end the second quarter for a 14-point lead and the Lions could not recover in the second half.

Behrend outscored Mt. Aloysius 27-21 in the third quarter and then were edged 19-13 in the fourth.

Dillman finished with a season-best four three-pointers. Emily Kinecki (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) and Boyer recorded 11 points apiece, while Woll contributed 10 points.

The Lions return to action on Sunday, December 17 against Pitt-Greensburg. Game time is 3 p.m.
