ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team defeated Grove City 85-65 to capture the 2021 Tip-Off Tournament held in the Junker Center on Saturday afternoon.

* Kara Haslett (Baden, PA/Ambridge) was named Tournament MVP for collecting 36 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and four steals over two games this weekend
* Caitlin Carnuche (New Castle, PA/Mohawk) was selected to the All-Tournament Team for scoring a team-best 25 points in the championship game

Key Moments:

* Haslett, coming off a career-high night against SUNY Canton, tallied 13 points and eight rounds to earn MVP honors
* Carnuche drained a game and season-high five triples to lead all scorers with 25 points
* Alanna Dibble (Lakewood, NY/Southwestern) had her first double-double of the season with 12 points and 13 rebounds
* The Lion held Grove City to 33.3 percent shooting from the field, while going 32-for-67 for 47.8 shooting
* Behrend outscored the Wolverines in each quarter, starting with a 24-19 edge in the first
* The Lions never trailed in the game, taking the lead in the first quarter on a pair of Rachel Majewski (Erie, PA/Villa Maria Academy) three-pointers for an 18-15 lead
* Dibble followed with back-to-back layups for a five-point lead that held into the second quarter
* The Wolverines cut the lead to one on a trey by Mara Polczynski at 29-28, but Dibble's power in the paint led to another set of layups to push the lead to 35-30
* Behrend grabbed a double-digit lead with 1:50 left in the second
* Carnuche scored nine points in the fourth quarter to keep the Lions out front
* Majewski finished with 12 points on perfect 4-for-4 shooting
