Boyer Named AMCC Newcomer of the Year; Three Land on All-Conference Team
The Penn State Behrend women’s basketball team had three players named to the All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Team, while freshman Madilyn Boyer (Saxonburg, PA/Knoch) was voted Newcomer of the Year.
ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team had three players named to the All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Team, while freshman Madilyn Boyer (Saxonburg, PA/Knoch) was voted Newcomer of the Year.
In addition to Newcomer of the Year, Boyer landed on the First Team along with sophomore Rachel Majewski (Erie, PA/Villa Maria Academy). Morgan Altavilla (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) was a Second-Team choice.
Boyer led the conference in field-goal percentage (52.3) and three-point field-goal percentage (40.2). She was third on the team and ninth in the AMCC in scoring (15.3 ppg). Boyer is second on the team with 6.9 rebounds per game and 2.9 assists per game. She ranks sixth in the conference in rebounds (193) and eighth in steals (49). Boyer recorded five double-doubles this season and scored a season-best 24 points at La Roche.
Majewski earned her first nod on the All-Conference Team. She paced the Lions and the AMCC in scoring all season, averaging 18.9 points per game. She ranked fourth in three-point percentage in the AMCC with 35.0 percent and was in the Top 10 in field-goal percentage with 42.3 percent. Majewski scored double-digit points in every game, dropping a career-high 30 against Altoona.
Altavilla averaged 16.2 points per game, good for second on the team and fifth in the AMCC. She ranks fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.6) and steals (54), while sitting seventh in field-goal percentage (44.4 percent) and assists (75). Altavilla scored double-digit points in 22 games, recording a season-best 26 points vs. Kenyon.
