ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend Athletics announces the hiring of Anna Sweny as the assistant women's basketball coach.

Sweny comes to Behrend after a four-year playing career at Division I Cansius. She was a two-year captain and named Best Defensive Player, along with earning the Hustle Award and Presidential Athletic-Academic Scholarship Award. Sweny was named to the MAAC All-Academic Team and was a three-year member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Sweny's coaching experience involves hosting clinics and private basketball training. A graduate of Villa Maria Academy, she was ranked the 54th best point guard in the nation by ESPN in 2016. Sweny was a 2016 First Team All-State selection, and two-time Team MVP and captain for the Victors.

She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Canisius in May 2019 with a bachelor of arts in political science. Sweny then earned a masters degree in business administration from Canisius in 2020.
