Fabin's Buzzer Beater Layup Lifts Women's Basketball Past Case Western
Freshman Alaina Fabin drained the game-winning layup with time expiring to help the Penn State Behrend women’s basketball team come back and defeat Case Western 60-59 in the first game of the Women Leader’s Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Allegheny on Friday night.
MEADVILLE, Pa. – Freshman Alaina Fabin (Indiana, PA/Home Center) drained the game-winning layup with time expiring to help the Penn State Behrend women's basketball team come back and defeat Case Western 60-59 in the first game of the Women Leader's Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Allegheny on Friday night.

* Down by two points with 12 seconds left in the game, the Lions took three tries at taking the lead before Fabin grabbed the third offensive rebound and laid it up at the buzzer for a one-point victory
* Trailing the entire fourth quarter, the Lions held the Spartans scoreless for the final 4:17 of the game and slowly chipped away at their eight-point lead
* Behrend used three throws and points in the paint from Madilyn Boyer (Saxonburg, PA/Knoch) and Alexis Furyes (Medina, OH/Highland) to get within one with a minute on the clock
* Fabin finished with her first collegiate double-double with a game-high 16 points and 13 rebounds

* The Lions took their largest lead in the late in the second quarter 28-21 after a jump shot from Fabin with 3:39 before halftime
* The Spartans got nine points from Mya Hartjes in the third quarter for a three-point lead with 10 minutes left to play (49-46)
* Fabin also tallied nine of the team's 16 points in the third
* Behrend tallied 36 points in the paint, including 14 points off turnovers
* It marks the fifth season-opening win for head coach Christine VanHook
